Matthew and I periodically talk about wild variations from screenplay format (i.e., including floor maps, character illustrations, etc.), none of which we’re ever likely to do, but then I read this snippet about Michael O’Donoghue’s never-made film The War of the Insect Gods:

Michael O’Donoghue insisted on shooting the whole thing in black-and-white to add to its nightmarish tone and xeroxed squashed roaches into the script pages

We probably shouldn’t be taking inspiration from notoriously unproduced writers, but, man, that does seem like it would liven up the reading experience.
